The ceremony was organized and attended by high school students at the Islamic Republic’s founder’s shrine which is located on the southern part of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Millions of Muslims across the world are participating in Muharram processions to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, the third Shia Imam.
Ceremonies have been held across Iran including the capital Tehran with mourners chanting in honor of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad as Muslims prepare for the climax of the processions on the 10th day of the lunar month Muharram known as the Day of Ashura.
That day marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein and 72 of his companions in the battle of Karbala in the seventh century.
Imam Hussein (PBUH) was martyred after he refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant ruler of his time, Yazid. Every year, mourners remember sacrifices by Imam Hussein and his family and companions.
