When the Islamic revolution became victorious the Islamic republic system based on Islam's teachings was brought into existence. While the Islamic republic accepted modern organizations like the presidential office, the house of counseling and … it sought to revive and expand Islamic values.
What can be seen and that is with the witness of the eye is that despite the existence of modern organizations in the structure of the Islamic republic and the structural similarity between that system and the modern liberal democratic systems the functioning of those two systems is opposed to and is different from each other.
According to the findings of this research the reason behind the difference and opposition of the performance and requirements of the two political systems has to do with the difference in the idea of modern government and the idea of government with respect to Imam Khomeini’s political thought.
And that is rooted in the difference between the bases of thinking and that is a philosophical one of the idea of modern government and the idea of government according to Imam Khomeini’s political thought. According to the modern thought human beings create their basis and have self-determination and they are constrained and attendant to no source beyond their view and therefore they lean on their science and logic in order to regulate their life affairs and they only seek to saturate and satisfy more and the better their material wants and He believes that the end and His welfare is freedom and also an increasing daily of enjoyment of worldly endowments of existence. Considering that outlook that seeks to get to know human beings political and social organizations get their legitimacy from the individuals will and their end and goal is to create an appropriate area to safeguard the wants of human beings better and more through establishing order and security in the society.
Against that outlook according to Imam Khomeini (peace be upon him) it is believed that human beings do not create their bases and are not independent and are servants of God.
His welfare and his desired perfection will be crystalized when affinity with God is achieved. Noting that belief regarding the essence of human beings the government that Imam has in mind has the duty to create the suitable ground for the society's individual’s moral growth and perfection and also considering God's absolute rule on existence and human beings He gets his legitimacy by having Godly consent. Hence despite the existence of organizational and structural similarities between the Islamic republic and modern liberal democratic political systems from the aspects of idea, essence and functioning those two political systems have an opposite and different orientation.
