Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic interpreted such events on the Islamic calendar as signs of God and called it as an opportunity for correction and improvement of worldly and spiritual affairs.

Imam Khomeini used to highlight importance of the Day of Arafah and advised the believers to grab all its spiritual benefits to accomplish prosperity in this world and the salvation for the hereafter.

The great scholar of the Muslim world emphasized that such days should be celebrated in remembrance of God the Almighty and to revive and spread the Islamic, social and moral values across the Muslim world.

Zil-Hajj 9th, is the day of Arafah. The famous supplication of Imam Hussein is recommended to be recited (in the afternoon). Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) has recited this supplication before leaving Mecca to Karbala on the Zil-Hajj 9th of 60 Hijri.

The day of Arafah is one of the most sacred days of the Islamic Calendar. On this day, God the Almighty invites his devotees towards his worship and obedience, and spreads his bounties and blessings.

Imam Khomeini used to maintain that supplications narrated by the holy prophet of Islam and his infallible successors contain insightful approach to monotheism.

The late founder of the Islamic Republic stressed that the famous supplication known as 'supplication of Arafah' by Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him), the doyen of Martyrs, contain deep points about monotheism.

The famous Dua has been narrated by Imam al-Husayn (PBUH), the grandson of the holy prophet of Islam and one of his infallible successors, and has been transmitted through authentic Islamic sources.

It had been narrated that Imam al-Husayn at the occasion of Arafat left his tent with submission and reverence. He walked slowly until he, accompanied by a group of his household, sons, and servants, stopped at the left side of mountain `Arafat and turned his face towards the Holy Ka`bah.

The grandson of the holy prophet of Islam then raised his hands (for supplication) to the level of his face, and recited the supplication.

The great Imam used to frequently underscore deep spiritual relations between the Day of Arafah and the tragic event of Ashura.

Imam has left several theological works such as Misbah al-Hidayah, an exposition on forty Hadiths, the hosts of intellect and ignorance, discipline of prayers, secret of prayers and several others. The works contain spiritual and mystical treasures.
