Iran urges end to ‘illegal’ US support for MKO terrorists

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations has called for an end to the US unlawful support for terrorists Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), saying Washington is responsible for the crimes perpetrated by the notorious anti-Iran group.

Due to Imam Khomeini’s wisdom and people’s support for the Islamic Revolution, the terrorist group failed to achieve its vicious agenda against the Islamic Republic.

Imam Khomeini, late founder of the Islamic Republic through his historic speeches and messages strongly denounced crimes committed by MKO and its backers.

The MKO sided with former Iraqi dictator Saddam during his 1980-1988 war on Iran. The terrorist group also widely supported Saddam in his brutal crackdown on opponents.

People's Mujahedin of Iran or the MKO which has assassinated thousands of Iranians receives support from the US and its allies in the region.

The MKO which is said to be a cult which turns humans into obedient robots, turned against Iran since the revolution and has carried out several terrorist attacks killing senior officials in Iran; yet the West which says cultism is wrong and claims to be against terrorism, supports this terrorist group officially.

After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, People's Mujahedin of Iran or the MKO began its enmity against Iran by killings and terrorist activities.

The MKO actually came to a dead end after the Iran nuclear deal was signed. It looks for divisions and splits inside the Iranian government or among its people in order to infiltrate and survive.

It lacks any strategy; it does not have any plans for the future of its small community; no idea what it is doing. For example, after Donald Trump came to power in the US they became hopeful to live longer.

They turned to Saudi Arabia because it funded and still supports the terrorist groups such as Daesh. These groups cause instability in the region and nothings serves the MKO better than a volatile situation in a country.

In a recent letter addressed to the UN Security Council, Gholamali Khoshroo denounced the participation of some American political figures and government officials, including President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, in an MKO gathering in Paris, France, on June 30.

He enumerated the terror outfit’s many atrocities ranging from the massacre of thousands of Iranians to collaboration with the enemies’ spy agencies in the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists in 2010-2015 and assistance to the former Iraqi regime in its war on Iran and carnage of its own citizens in 1980s.

The notorious anti-Iran group, he wrote, had bribed American political lobbies in 2012 to facilitate its removal from the US State Department’s list of designated terrorist organizations, adding that this shows Washington’s “dual and selective” approach to fighting terrorism.

The letter added that Washington bears the responsibility for the international crimes committed by the MKO.

Iran strongly condemns the US government’s illegal measures against the Iranian people such as supporting and funding the MKO as a terrorist group, the letter read. This illegal move violates international law, the principles of the UN Charter and international rules on fighting terror, it added

The US government should abandon these policies and end such illegal measures, the letter emphasized.

The MKO is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community. Its members fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq, where it enjoyed the support of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

The MKO has carried out numerous attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials over the past three decades.

Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist assaults since the victory of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO’s acts of terror.

The MKO was once listed as a terrorist organization in the US and Europe and is still widely viewed as a Marxist cult built around the personality of its leader, Maryam Rajavi.

The group is widely detested for collaborating with the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during his war on Iran in the 1980s and killing as many as 12,000 Iranians in a violent campaign of assassinations and bombings.
